You can simply go to the Appearance » Widgets page and add a Text, Image, or Gallery widget to your footer widget area. To add a widget, simply drag and drop it into a footer area. If you need more help, then see our article on how to add and use widgets in WordPress.

In order to change the amount of columns you should navigate to Appearance > Customize section in your WordPress Dashboard. Access the Footer tab and check for the Footer styles. Change the Widget Area Columns option value and save your edits using Save & Publish button.
Go to Appearance > Widgets in the WordPress Administration Screens. Choose a Widget and either drag it to the sidebar where you wish it to appear, or click the widget, (select a destination sidebar if your theme has more than one) and click the Add Widget button.
The other option is to add a Category Cloud Widget in the footer to display your post categories. To add the widgets, go to Customizer > Widgets and choose one of the three footer locations your theme, Gateway, allows for and add the category widget of your choice there.
